Christmas Traditions

My intense love for the Christmas season stems from these 2 souls right here. That’s Mom and Dad.

I have the type of Mom who whistles Jingle Bells in July and the type of Dad you may find dancing in the kitchen at any given moment. From the time I can remember Christmas was always a big deal. When I was growing up my home was always open to all of our friends and family and especially those that didn’t have anyone to spend the holidays with. My parents have the kind of hearts that thrive on inclusion and that’s just one of the million reasons I adore them. In my mind there’s absolutely no time better than the holiday season, people just seem genuinely happier! In our home we decorate early, we listen to Christmas music starting in November and we watch all the holiday favourites over and over for weeks leading up to the big day! Since having kids of my own I can’t get enough of the excitement on my boys faces on Christmas morning and how happy they are to spend time with the people we love. I hope that we’re instilling a strong sense of the true meaning of this season in each of them. A few of the things we look forward to are: ~ the cookie baking…but mostly the cookie eating :) ~ Christmas tree decorating day at my parents, which involves copious amounts of food ~ a neighbourhood Christmas party, which literally involves anyone in the neighbourhood that can make it. And although we’ve recently moved from this neighbourhood, we love these people all so much and hope they’ll continue to include us in this. ~ an annual trip to Great Wolf Lodge with my sister & our kiddos the week before Christmas, it’s always a nice way to relax after all the stress this season can bring ~ a hearty Christmas Eve barbecue, Colin’s in charge of the grill when it’s cold :p As I look at this, a lot of my memories involve food, don’t judge haha I’m so looking forward to spending Christmas morning with my husband and our boys. This year we are blessed to be spending it in our new country home. And as an added bonus my parents have accepted our invite to stay Christmas Eve and be with us on Christmas morning :) As the old adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Here’s a few of my most favourite…
